TODS HANDBAGS : I was disappointed that the sales weren't as good as I'd hoped. Almost nothingwas on sale at Boot Barn. I bought a pair of khakis for my cowboy (but thesalesman told me not to call them "khakis," that just sounds too preppy, soinstead, they are "riatas." Whatever!); they were 50% off but everything elseI got there was full price.At Nordstrom, there were more sales, but still not enough. I did get fivepairs of nice socks for my aunt, all marked down. Even the Ralph Lauren socks(with horse print) were marked down, I think they were $5.I still can't find a Lionel train marked down to a do-able price.Well, at Saks Fifth Avenue I bought an Armani Le Collezioni suit for $536 and change, WITH TAX! I'd call that a deal. It's a brown three button with pinstripes. I didn't really need it, but at that price I couldn't refuse. Plus more of the shirts and ties I wear with my blue suit will work with this one as well.
TODS HANDBAGS : I also picked up three silver-plated picture frames in various sizesthat were half-price. They were made in England, and really quite nice. When I got home I discovered that my APS prints won't fit into the openings, but I didn't want to return them. I decided to keep them and give them as gifts."The way to a woman's heart is through the Shoe Department."I made a trip to Schottenstein's/Value City Discount Department Store toshop for some back-to-college clothes for my son and ended up finding a pairof deep olive Via Spigas for $30.I drooled over the Chloe and Versace bags for $60, and the Louis Feraudsuits for $79, but I figured I should exhibit some post-Christmas restraint.We purchased my Christmas present (the ring I selected from Ross Simons wassupposed to be red (carnelian) not amber!) which was a two tone gold andwhite gold bracelet at the Zales outlet.I also purchased the most gorgeous sapphire blue quilted robe with amandarine collar. This may be matronly as hell, but don't tell me, I likeit!

Now I can let the wool crepe ones restfor a while.Navy crepe jacket at Nordstrom Rack for $36! Yes, it's that wierdpoly-tri-acetate stuff, but I hate wrinkles, and it's hot here for a longtime, so these sorts of things are handy.I received Nordstrom gift certificates for Christmas, because I am soeagerly awaiting "my" Nordstrom in March. But, we were suddenly called outof town to be near Doug's grandmother in case she fell ill again, so therewas nothing to do but shop (I have a cell phone! :-)Neiman's had a few CSP scents left for $52. (didn't buy any, tho - I was lookingfor Vanilla, but they were out already) Eau de Arts (never heard of this!)Pamplemousse, L'Homme, and one other one I've never heard of and cannot recallthe name of. They had a tester out for the vanilla, but were all out. Also hadpamplemousse body cream 30% off and a few candles in motu.

I got 5 pairs of pants, but nowI have to get them all hemmed :-(-ChristinaMy local Neiman Marcus (Tysons Galleria inNoVa) was having a great sale, with savings at 50 % off. In womens shoes therewere plenty ofTods, Chanels, Guccis, Pradas, Bottega Venetas, and Blahniks. Handbags hadsale tablespiled with Bottega Venetas (suede, leather, woven and smooth), Kate Spades(one woman had 6 Kate Spades clutched in her arms), Ferragamos, a couple ofGuccis, all the burgundy leather bags by J P Tods, and a nice selection ofevening bags (including Etro andJ P Tods). The Prada boutique had marked down about a quarter of their dayhandbags, 1/2 of their evening bags, all of their travel slippers, and theirvelvet cosmetic bags . There were countless sales racks in womens designerclothing, and the moderate clothing departments.I was not very impressed with the selection of merchandise in lingerie,accessories or mens.All in all, it was the best day-after-Christmassale I'd seen at this Neimans, and it was also themost crowded. People were snatching up everything!
TODS HANDBAGS : I just bought a black 9 west backpack made with that nylon type material.The strap has a zipper so that I can use it as a shoulder sling or unzip itto use as a backpack. I was wondering if anyone has 9 west handbags. I amcurious how they hold up. I am afraid that the straps may not hold up.They seem kind of skinny, It was on sale and is really cute so I couldn'tresist.'Any comments welcome.I have several, all different styles, and they are all still in good shape!Maybe i'm just lucky, but i've never had a problem with them.I have a couple of Nine West handbags, and I've been happy with them too.I think that Nine West has a lot of nice styles of shoes and handbags--alittle pricier, but not exorbitant.The last bag that I bought was a knockoff of the J.P. Tods purse that'sbeen all the rage. I think that the original (in leather) was $800. Ibought a microfiber one from Nine West for $58.Hey, I have the Nine West J.P. Tod's knockoff too!! The day after purchasingit, I went to Neiman's and looked at the real J.P. Tod's and the difference washardly noticeable from afar. I love how sturdy and well made the Nine West onefeels.
