(Elaine Benes at the bakery)I don't think I will buy anything new in white but I will probably pull out mywhite and tan leather bucket bag. For a Lady-Like look I will use my whiteGucci with the bamboo handle. The Gucci sounds lovely and I've always been partial to a bamboo handle for a dressy spring handbag, probably because my Grandmother favored the bamboo handles for that season. I think it wasn't so much the color of the handbag that struck me funny as it was the shape, which was a replica of an English riding saddle - and nearly as large - with the "D" serving as a stirrup. I'm talking about Dior's Baudrier bag, which seems to be a favorite shape for Dior for the spring. I've also seen it in a logo print and in a denim in the stores, but the design's not to my taste.

I'm not into fakes anymore, but Iwould love this because the real one almost seems fake-ish itself.This is about the only one that really captured my interest for any length of time, and I think it wasn't so much the white, but the colors that did it. It looked like a happy handbag to me.That is SO the perfect term for it. I want one, if I can get a good fake I'dbe perfectly happy with it. It's just so cheerful and happy looking. And ifthe fakes look bad, I can always save up for a real one. It's just such anadorable pattern, I really love it. It IS a happy handbag!

I listen back tovintage Rod Stewart...when he was with Jeff Beck, singing "Shapes ofThings"...or when he sang lead on the Python Lee Jackson song "In ABroken Dream", then to his early solo stuff, yeah yeah "Maggie May"but I'm thinking more of "Mandolin Wind", "You Wear It Well", "Only AHobo", "Handbags and Gladrags"--BEAUTIFUL stunning songs. Then Ithink ahead to "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?", "Hot Legs", or "Baby Jane", "Young Turks", "Infatuation"--ALRIGHT I'LLSTOP!! I have discussed this with Tom and I can't put my finger onwhen he made the transition from sincerity to sleaze or why he did it. I thought maybe around the time of Atlantic Crossing? But no, therewere some decent tracks on that album...same with A Night On theTown...so I'm thinking around the time of Foot Loose and Fancy Free? Man, I loved that tune! (Stilldo!).Actually that is a lovely song isn't it...same with his rendition ofPeople Get Ready, I've always enjoyed it. "A Little More Love" has always been one of my faveON-J tunes. But...have you ever seen the video?? Very early musicvideo from 1978. It's basically her in the recording studio singing thesong, however, throughout it there are cut-away shots of her posingduring the photo shoot for the "Totally Hot" album cover. (Anyoneremember what that looked like?) It's shot on film (not video) and sheis ....totally hot!!Sure do!! That's one of the albums I recently found in my parents' house thatI had been looking for for years. I KNEW I wouldn't have given it away; itjust ended up in a stash of 70s/early 80s LPs that I had forgotten all about. She looks fabulous on that cover. In fact, now that I finally have aturntable, maybe I'll go put that on now!
