DESIGNER INSPIRED HANDBAGS : ``Looking from Wal-Mart to Hermes, the equestrian look is a strongtrend,'' said Simon Doonan, creative director at Barneys. ``Of all thetrendsfor fall, it's one of the more wearable trends and very snobby andhmmmm...personally i wouldn't wear the equestrian stuff. i am an actualequestrian, and i am not wearing that stuff out of the show rings/stables.but...why wear stuff like that if you aren't an equestrian?? it drives me crazyseeing stuff like that in the fashion world. but hey...if that's the trendnow...i don't need to buy any new clothes...i have so many breeches, jackets,etc..... just my thoughts =)**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~"I've met so many men, it's like they're all the same.My appetite for lovin', is now my hunger pain. And when I'm feelin' sexy, who's gonna comfort me?My only problem is their insecurity."SpanishEyes AB wrote:* hmmmm...personally i wouldn't wear the equestrian stuff. i am an actual* equestrian, and i am not wearing that stuff out of the show rings/stables.* but...why wear stuff like that if you aren't an equestrian?? it drives me crazy* seeing stuff like that in the fashion world. but hey...if that's the trend* now...i don't need to buy any new clothes...i have so many breeches, jackets,* etc..... * just my thoughts =)

DESIGNER INSPIRED HANDBAGS : As a fellow rider, I share your sentiments, although I can understand the fashion world being inspired by the classic look of a formal English look. Doriswondering if she should buy a catcher's mitt or soccer cleats as her great fall accessory"Show me a sane man and I "Sometimes a scream is better will cure him for you." than a thesis." C.G. Jung Ralph Waldo Emersonyeh...it is classic. i guess it's just because i am around it so much! **~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~"I've met so many men, it's like they're all the same.My appetite for lovin', is now my hunger pain. And when I'm feelin' sexy, who's gonna comfort me?My only problem is their insecurity."Horse back riding wear to the mall, or worse, to the office? This is hardlywhat I'd call conservative clothing. It's like dressing up like a pretentiousclown. Though if you ride horses it will be a great time to stock up.....Thisstuff will all be greatly reduced in a month or two.Pretensious? Absolutely, but from a man's point of view...still TD4 ;)Check out my homepage (link below) for today's scan of what will be to many anover-the-top equestrian look, but one that I'd kill to see...LOL!!

DESIGNER INSPIRED HANDBAGS : John E. Leslie - Dallas, TX "You can check out any time you like, but you cannever leave..." The Eagles, "Hotel California"See today's LOTD and fashion "ScarfScan of the Day" atAgain, the scarf over the head tied under the chin look is fine for ridinghorses or out yachting on a cool crisp morn, but to work? I once wore my hairlike this on a bad hair day figuring it's better than dirty hair. Not. Peoplelooked at me like I was hiding some disease or had taken up a new religion (notthat there's anything wrong with that). Walking in NYC in the fall, yes, goingto the mall, no. Riding pants on a horse yes -- on the street, at a desk, atthe lunch counter....fashion victim.I might have thought the same, thing, truth be told. This is a childhood link, really. When I was little, there was a girlin my school who had a recurring hair lice thing going on andshe was always wearing scarves over her head because her motherfigured the school wouldn't consider her a potential problemfor everyone else if she had her hair covered. I'm finding ithard to believe that this would have been a fool-proof methodto contain lice, in retrospect. I must admit that even though I logically know that wearing a scarf on one's head is no indication of something gross underneath, if I was shown a picture of a woman wearing a scarf over her head and had to say the first thing that came to my head in an association test, I'd say "head lice".

DESIGNER INSPIRED HANDBAGS : Depends what elements you choose and how subtlely you use them. You coulddefinitely wear riding boots with black tights, black skirt, and a crisp whiteshirt without freaking anyone out. Alternatively, you could wear jodphurs (ormore likely, a designer's interpretation of them) with a chunky turtlenecksweater and look quite cute. (Probably not to the office, but definitely to themall.) Plus, a lot of the so-called equestrian stuff is not really riding gear;it's just got horse motifs. Obviously, you could wear jeans and one of those Polopink pony t-shirts (the black ones with the big pink pony in the center, I mean)and look quite nice. And on a "when trends converge" note, I saw in one of theSept mags (Elle?) a painted cameo of a horse. Depending how big it is, that couldbe worked into an outfit with great effect, I think.Except that it's not the same stuff. If you've ever looked at real equestriangear it's usually much, much higher quality that most of the stuff that's beingpromoted as equestrian. Boots and jodphurs, in particular, are *sturdy* and meantto be worn hard.

DESIGNER INSPIRED HANDBAGS : I've always loved to create art and overall didn't care what medium I'musing as long as it allows me to draw or illustrate the imaginativepictures in my mind.In fact, that's how I ended up designing needlework because I was soinspired during a visit to a needlework shop and seeing a rainbowpalette of yarns and threads.....so many colors and textures to "paint"with giving me the option to create art in three dimensional form! For me, the most exciting thing about stitching is being able to createmy own "fabric".As a former textile designer, this was a dream come true, to be able tosee my design become a piece of fabric and then even more exciting, totake this fabric and make a three dimensional object with it!! Somethingthat I wasn't able to do painting on paper.Paper was not as forgiving or durable to work with as my stitchedfabric. That decided my choice of stitching to be needlepoint because of thedurability of the finished "fabric" that could be made into anydecorative object I'd like and being able to use blank canvas to eitherpaint a design on or to stitch a design freehand, designing as I gowhich is my favorite way to stitch.
