Garcia neckties come out while he was still with us?I know I've had mine for a long time, and get compliments every time Iwear it (not that often....it's a tie!)I think that they were ( the ties, i mean) My hubby and I got marriedin 1990 and had a "traditional" garden wedding with all of our friendsand family, I wore a beautiful lace and satin gown with butterflieshand embroidered on it (much grumbling from the seamstress) my husbandwore his gorgeous black pinstripe suit with his grateful dead tie(no,!!! couldn't be!!! not the commercial thing!!!AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!! they have been commercial for a long time folksand it is ok, relax, we all have to get by - and don't have to bepoverty-stricken to do it)The music for our reception was was a compilation called, "the bestDead for your wedding reception" I still have the tape.

Only someone's "interpretation" of some of his art. So why isn'tit credited to the artist/designer who is "interpreting" Jerry's work? Becausethey need Jerry's name to sell it.It isn't about art, Jerry's or anyone elses. It's about exploiting Garcia's name and fame, pure and simple.Not for the profit of Jerry (who certainly deserved to make profit from hiswork), but for the gain of D. Koons, an out of work "artist" (film was hergenre) who apparently can't make any worthwhile art of her own.Jerry had a great sense of pranksterish humor. But somehow, I doubt that he'dsay "fuck 'em if they can't take a joke" over something like this. On the other hand, for whatever reason, he did marry Koons, so what do I know?Only that I can't imagine the attraction of this line of ripped off knock-offs.That's the differencehe did it while he was alivethat's the man's namehis name to use any doggone way he wishednow you've got this puddle of excrementwho got him while he was dyingdoing all she can to make another "tasteful" buck
HANDBAGS : The obvious difference, which I'm pretty sure you understand, is that it's onething for Jerry to use his name to sell a product that he had a hand indesigning/producing and it's something very different for someone else to usehis name simply for the value of that name.My understanding is that the original garcia ties *were* his design (as far asthe artwork depicted on them) though new designs have come out since Garciadied.In any case, I never had much interest in his line of neckwear. It did seem toobviously be one of his small jokes, (albeit a potentially profitable joke forJerry) considering he wouldn't be caught dead or alive wearing a necktie.No joke in the handbag scheme, only potential profit.
